    Where Is Ravenshoe
    Ravenshoe is on the Evelyn Tablelands in Far North Queensland South West of Cairns. Ravenshoe was famous during the Richardson era when the listing of its surrounding Rainforest with world heritage all but spelt the demise of the Timber industry upon which the Town so much depended. Ravenshoe is the site of one of Australia’s Largest Wind Farms, with 20 wind generators in place. Ravenshoe also has a Steam Train for tourists. Ravenshoe is also known as the Gateway to the Gulf Savannah and the highest town in QLD.

    Ravenshoe and its surrounding countryside is a favorite with lovers of the Natural Environment. Here you can still get close to nature on your own property and also enjoy being surrounded by Wet Tropic Rainforest, Timber Reserves and National Parks. In Ravenshoe you can also chose your favoured climate. Yes, within 15 minutes of the town, one has a choice of high, low or medium rainfall areas each with their own different environments and so a choice can be made based on health considerations or just preferences. To the west of Ravenshoe numerous mines are operating in the area and work is readily available.

    What Does The Surrounding Area Offer?
    The list is endless. One can travel North to the Atherton Tableland with its large country towns, festivals, restaurants, clubs and lakes or East to the Tropical Coast with the area from Mission Beach up to Port Douglas only 1-3 hours of picturesque and stunning scenery en route. Here you can hop off to a tropical island for the weekend, take in some Culture in Cairns, board a plane to the world, choose from hundreds of restaurants, go diving over coral reefs, sport fishing, and avail yourself of summer temperatures in winter Going south and South West you will encounter Therapeutic Hot Springs, Undara Lava Tubes, Herbert River Gorge, River Fishing, fossiciking, and further afield the Gulf Towns, Charters Towers and so on. Without leaving the immediate area you can explore within 20 kms of Ravenshoe, the Millstream Gorge and Falls, Tully falls Gorge, Aboriginal walking tracks in the rainforest and fish in Koombaloomba dam.

    What Can You Grow?
    With the climate, soil and water – just about anything. At approx 900metres elevation there are fewer problems created by heat and humidity and so you can grow anything from Olives to all the Sub-Tropical fruits and even some of the colder climate fruits such as peaches and nectarines, certain apples etc. Vegetable the same – just about anything will flourish in Ravenshoe.
